Our team was engaged to design and execute a high-impact Earth Day event that would connect frontline employees with sustainability in a tangible, engaging way at a large manufacturing facility. The objective was to transform the company’s environmental commitments into an on-the-ground experience that fostered awareness, community partnerships, and internal alignment. Hosted on-site at a major production facility, the event brought together more than 20 regional organizations representing agriculture, clean transportation, green energy, and waste reduction, alongside internal groups from safety, facilities, and sustainability. With over 1,000 employees participating throughout the day, the event exceeded expectations in reach, visibility, and employee engagement.
We led the formation and facilitation of a 15-person cross-functional internal planning team composed of representatives from communications, EHS, facilities, operations, security, and sustainability. Using a structured project framework and collaborative tools, we guided the team through the full lifecycle of planning—from vendor selection and space layout to logistics, staffing, and risk management. Weekly planning sessions enabled agile decision-making, and our facilitation helped ensure alignment with operational requirements while maximizing creative input and ownership from across departments.
To drive participation and awareness, we developed and implemented a robust internal communication strategy tailored to the factory environment. This included email campaigns, pre-event leadership briefings, and a dedicated intranet hub with event information, maps, and vendor spotlights. We also leveraged floor signage, digital monitors, and shift-based messaging to reach employees where they work. Leadership was kept engaged through milestone reporting and previews of key components, ensuring executive alignment and support throughout the process.
The result was a dynamic, well-coordinated Earth Day event that not only showcased the company’s environmental priorities but also brought them to life for its workforce. By blending external expertise with internal ownership, we helped the client embed sustainability deeper into its culture and operations. The event now serves as a blueprint for future employee engagement efforts—demonstrating the value of strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and place-based programming in advancing corporate sustainability goals.
